As opposed to me actually interviewing a designer, here's an interview with Jonathan Ive done by Nick Carson of TEN4 magazine.
Ive is notoriously British; meaning he's self-effacing, private, and likes to solve problems. The best quote from this conversational interview is "We try to solve very complicated problems without letting people know how complicated the problem was." That to me is what Industrial Design should be about. Not fancy renderings with farkles and really hot highlight lines but a problem solved beautifully.
